Hi, I’m Yuki!
I’m a crochet artist who loves making plushies/dolls. I love looking at the end product and the satisfaction that comes with a well-made piece. My favorite kinds to make are Pokemon, human-based dolls (like anime characters), creatures and honestly, anything that is hard to find merch of but that people love. I think it’s amazing that a hook and some yarn can create recognizable characters that people know and love and might not be able to find elsewhere. Plus, since I handmake and crochet every piece, I can easily customize colors and features.
I think I first started crocheting when I was very young. Whenever my family would go grocery shopping, I would end up drawn to the arts and crafts aisle (I was an artsy child) and would ask for all sorts of supplies like needles, fabric, yarn, glue, and more – including crochet hooks and yarn (acrylic weight 4 “baby” yarn, because it was in a pretty mint and pastel yellow color and soft). I taught myself as I wasn’t allowed YouTube at that time.
I found ‘pokemon amigurumi’ blogs and thought they were the cutest thing ever and tried my best (self taught and don’t know how to read patterns!) It never really worked out, and I got called a grandma a lot, so eventually I quit crocheting.
When I was in college, I randomly came across a Magikarp Hat pattern on Etsy, where the magikarp is hollow as a hat and his mouth “eats” your head. It tickled me silly and I ended up buying the pattern, yarn, and hooks again. That’s how this current hobby of mine started – and hasn’t ended. I’ve always had many phases of different crafts or hobbies I’ve enjoyed, but I can tell crochet is endgame for me. And here I am! Now I crochet all the plushies you see and even create my own patterns.
If crochet doesn’t work out for you, that’s okay. Everyone has their own thing that they excel at or love doing.
